Using the SIM Card

Using the SIM Card for the first time
  1. Power off your phone
  2. Insert your new SIM card
  3. Power on your phone
  4. Ensure that roaming is turned on your phone.
  5. Your phone should connect on a GSM/WCDMA/LTE network.

Please also note, using this SIM card to surf Internet or make calls outside covered countries will significantly reduce the data and voice usage capacity, or even cause the SIM card to stop functioning.

Receiving calls

People anywhere in the world can dial your UK or French number directly to reach you, for example, +44774132 12345 or +33674132 12345. The local number is especially useful for booking cabs, hotels and restaurant reservations.

Making local calls

For the purposes of this card, local calls include calls to any country mentioned under “Coverage”, from any country mentioned under “Coverage”. To make such calls use the full international format. E.g. to call a UK landline number from any country use (for example) +44 207 222 1234.

What is an eSIM?

eSIM stands for “embedded” SIM which is installed in your phone by scanning a QR code or tapping a notification. If an activation date is required the QR code / Notification is sent after activation, else 24hours after completing your documentation.

eSIM Advantages

eSIM Disadvantages

  • Unfamiliar: Since it is a new technology expect to be learning a bit.
  • eSIM Compatible Phones: eSIM will only work in eSIM compatible phones. As a general rule, iPhone 11 and Android model 2021 and higher models are compatible with eSIM.
  • Single Use Only: Most eSIM codes can be used only once. Please do not delete the eSIM created on your phone, since it cannot be recreated on your phone or any other phone. However you can de-activate the eSIM when not needed from your settings.
  • Transfer of eSIM: To transfer an eSIM from one phone to another you must visit the store of the Operator concerned. However some USA eSIMs can be transferred from one iPhone to another.

Activating eSIM on your Device using a QR Code

Most eSIMs are installed using a QR code. The QR code is sent to you by eMail. You need an Internet connection to install an eSIM

iPhone XR, XS and newer
  1. Go to Settings, then Cellular.
  2. Select Add a plan, and the Camera app will open.
  3. Point your camera at the QR activation code until you see a message that says Installing cellular plan.
2021 Android and newer
  1. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager
  2. Tap Add mobile plan
  3. Tap Add using QR code
  4. Scan the QR activation code

Activating eSIM on your Device using an Operator Notification

T-mobile, AT&T and some other operators make it even simpler to install eSIMs. They send a notification directly to your phone. Just tap on the notification and follow the instructions as in images below. The notification is sent to the phone you intend to use on your trip for which you have given us the EID and IMEI number by dialing *#06#.

    Worked very well in the countries it was supported. Didn’t work in Switzerland, which is as per the specification. I missed seeing that it didn’t work in Switzerland before buying it.
    An issue I had was that it asked for a “SIM Unlock PIN” the moment I put in the SIM and started the phone. This blocked starting up the phone itself, so I can’t even connect to Airport WiFi and ask TSIM Customer Service for help!. I had to then remove the TSIM and restart the phone just to connect to WiFi and send an email to TSIM Support, who promptly replied with the SIM Unlock PIN. I used the PIN and I was good to go.

    That’s not the end of it. I had to restart the phone once later, and the damn thing asked for the SIM Unlock PIN again! Now, I didn’t remember the PIN, so once again, I had to remove the TSIM from the phone, restart, connect to WiFI, check the email for the PIN, put back the TSIM, and unlock with the PIN. Frustrating!

    I wanted to give 3.5 stars, but there is no option for that. Would have been 4.5 stars if there was no “SIM Unlock PIN” issue.

      We are sorry you were bothered by the repeated asking of PIN by the SIM. It is indeed frustrating when that happens. One way is to disable asking of PIN from the settings of the phone. In setting search for SIM PIN or in iPhone go to Mobile Data -> SIM PIN -> Disable SIM PIN. We apologise for the inconvenience and will work to find a way to warn customers about this.

When i emailed them about my experience, they did not reply or compensate… So they did not deliver what they had promised nor did they compensate me for deficiency of services.

This is caused by the fact that Switzerland (as also Turkey) is not part of the EU. We understand the confusion this can cause and are looking to standardise coverage as much as possible.     Details: I bought 4 sims for our group travel, 10 GB internet & 30 days (UK number). 5 stars for prompt delivery.
    Coverage – never faced signal network problems across all the countries I travelled, even in remote areas (Austria, Czech, Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain and Croatia) and got 4G everywhere.
    App – Data can be monitored easily through 3 (Service provider) app.
    Customer service support – TSIM chat service was very prompt, and they resolved the issue within a few minutes. As I encountered a problem with sim-code, the customer support was responsive via call and WhatsApp even at late night in India.

    Details
    I bought 2 sims –
    1) Rs. 2,489 with 19 GB internet & 28 days (Spain number) for myself.
    2) Rs. 1,389 with 10 GB internet & 30 days (UK number) for my spouse.
    Delivery for both the sims was prompt and I got the sims within the next 1 day. 5 stars for that.
    Activation for Spain number went smooth when we landed in Paris. However, there was some glitch with the UK number and calls weren’t going through. TSIM chat service was very prompt and they resolved the issue within few minutes.

    Coverage – never faced signal network problem across all the three countries – France, Spain and Portugal even in remote areas. Got 4G everywhere.

    Few minor issues that I faced
    1. I wasn’t able to make EU calls using the Spain number when I was in Spain. This was probably because only local calls were allowed which wasn’t mentioned in the product description. However, TSIM customer service tried to debug the issue a lot and even replied at late India hours over whatsapp. Hats off to them. Since internet was working so it wasn’t a major issue.
    2. I had difficulty in checking remaining data balance for Spain number on the movistar account. I couldn’t download the movistar app on phone since it is not available for India playstore. I had to resort to tracking data usage from my phone settings. This wasn’t a problem with the UK number where my spouse was able to clearly check the data balance on the 3 (Service provider) app.

    Overall it was a good experience with TSIM and I would definitely use it again on my next EU trip.

    Yes! You will need to provide your Passport Copy (photo page + address page copy) & Visa copy. The link to upload these documents would have been sent to you after successfully placing the order. The SIM automatically activates when you insert the SIM in any covered country. Your validity period begins when the card is activated.

It involves using TSIM Calling Service wherein users dial a UK Access Number & when prompted dial their India number in full international format. E.g. 912224216344.
