Using the SIM Card

Using the SIM Card for the first time
  1. Power off your phone
  2. Insert your new SIM card
  3. Power on your phone
  4. Your phone should connect on a GSM/WCDMA/LTE network.

Please also note, using this SIM card to surf Internet or make calls outside Thailand will significantly reduce the data and voice usage capacity, or even cause the SIM card to be suspended.

Coverage

AIS, DTAC  & TrueMove have extensive 5G coverage across Thailand. AIS, however, Thailand’s largest GSM mobile phone operator, has slightly better coverage nationwide compared to other cellular operators. DTAC, on the other hand, is said to have a slightly faster network.

Receiving calls

People in Thailand can just dial your number preceded by 0 to reach you, for example, 08-1234-5678; People outside Thailand need to dial +66 plus your number, for example, +66 812345678

Calling a mobile number in Thailand

Dial the 9 digit mobile number preceded by 0; Thailand mobile numbers start with 8, 9 or 6. For example, to reach mobile number 832332332 you will need to dial  0832332332

Calling a fixed line number in Thailand

Dial 0 + area code + phone number; for example, 02-1234-5678 or 043-213456

Calling an international number when in Thailand – Super Savings Rate

Dial 00300 or 00400 + country code + phone number. For example, to call India number 022 24216344, dial “00300912224216344” or “00400912224216344” The international dial code 00300 or 00400 will be mentioned on the card.

Extension of validity

These cards can be refilled at the telecom operator’s store for an extension of validity.  These refills will generally be more expensive than the rates paid to TSIM. However, we are not in a position to aid you in extending the validity of the card.

APN Setting

For most devices, this SIM card does not require any APN configuration to access Internet. iPhones rarely require any APN setting. However, some Android based devices may require you to manually configure their APN in order to access Internet correctly. If you have an Android OS based device, and your phone can make calls and receive texts, but cannot access Internet, please try to configure the APN based on the following instructions:

What is an eSIM?

eSIM stands for “embedded” SIM which is installed in your phone by scanning a QR code or tapping a notification. If an activation date is required the QR code / Notification is sent after activation, else 24hours after completing your documentation.

eSIM Advantages

  • Easy to use: Set up your plan by scanning a simple QR code or tapping a notification.
  • Save on Shipping cost: No physical delivery requirement
  • Save on time: In a rush to travel? We will send eSIM QR Code via email. Scan it as per instructions and It will be ready to use upon arrival.
  • Keep your original SIM: The eSIM is in addition to your original SIM which will work as usual if you need it.

eSIM Disadvantages

  • Unfamiliar: Since it is a new technology expect to be learning a bit.
  • eSIM Compatible Phones: eSIM will only work in eSIM compatible phones. As a general rule, iPhone 11 and Android model 2021 and higher models are compatible with eSIM.
  • Single Use Only: Most eSIM codes can be used only once. Please do not delete the eSIM created on your phone, since it cannot be recreated on your phone or any other phone. However you can de-activate the eSIM when not needed from your settings.
  • Transfer of eSIM: To transfer an eSIM from one phone to another you must visit the store of the Operator concerned. However some USA eSIMs can be transferred from one iPhone to another.

Activating eSIM on your Device using a QR Code

Most eSIMs are installed using a QR code. The QR code is sent to you by eMail. You need an Internet connection to install an eSIM

iPhone XR, XS and newer
  1. Go to Settings, then Cellular.
  2. Select Add a plan, and the Camera app will open.
  3. Point your camera at the QR activation code until you see a message that says Installing cellular plan.
2021 Android and newer
  1. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager
  2. Tap Add mobile plan
  3. Tap Add using QR code
  4. Scan the QR activation code

Activating eSIM on your Device using an Operator Notification

T-mobile, AT&T and some other operators make it even simpler to install eSIMs. They send a notification directly to your phone. Just tap on the notification and follow the instructions as in images below. The notification is sent to the phone you intend to use on your trip for which you have given us the EID and IMEI number by dialing *#06#.

    I purchased two sim cards for me and my spouse during our recent Thailand trip. Placing the order was easy and the sims were delivered in time. Both the sims were pre-activated with connectivity on arrival. It was AIS network sim and the sims had network coverage at all places including farthest sea point. There was no hidden charges and neither the balance exhausted with undue charges. The tariffs were at par with other service providers (which I checked after arrival at Thailand).     Product was delivered late but cause was Mumbai rains so I don’t blame Tsim. Problem was actual usage. I was not able to make any local call in Thailand. I read the instructions multiple times and followed exactly what was asked. In the end card was only used for data which was disappointing. I did not to call the support and waste time during my holiday. In all I would prefer to spend money on roaming next time.

    Yes! The Thailand SIM is pre registered & ready to use. Since the the validity will start from the First Use, you are strongly adviced to insert the SIM into the phone ONLY AFTER reaching Thailand.
